Institution
My research shows that for this genre there isn’t a main institution that tends to make this type of film. I found that a lot of popular and not so popular institutions will make this genre of film. I found that although some movies like Austin Powers was shown to be extremely popular and ended up making a lot of money some other films such as Knight and Day didn’t. Box Office Mojo shows that Knight and Day was produced by the Fox studio but only made around $76,423,035 where as Austin Powers was produced by NL studio and made over $2million. I think for this genre institution is not as important because some small and not so popular companies make more successful comedy spy films

Audience

The film we are aiming to make is going to be a spy, comedy and action spoof. This film will have a wide range of viewers and our primary audience will be mainly young male around the age of 12 onwards, this is because they are the main age and gender that are interested in the action and spy style of this film. This is also good for the comedy element of our film because it is a spoof and we will need the audience to understand and get the jokes that are part of the spy and action genre. The secondary audience will be the people that are interested in watching mainly comedies and the spoof type films such as Johnny English or Austin Powers.

Planning and research

-Decide who you are working with for your project (if anyone) - Kelly Senior and Louise Browbank

-Decide on the genre of your film - Action/Comedy/Spy

-Brainstorm ideas for at least 5-10 films from your genre (use the web to find ideas if you can’t think of any). If working in a group, you should look at 5-10 films each (although these could be the same films)

-The Bourne Identity (we will use the action and mystery aspects of this film)

-Johnny English (we chose this film because it's an action but it's funny)

-Die Hard (action)

-Red (action)

-Bounty Hunter (comedy/action)

-Hancock (comedy/action)

-Hot Fuzz (comedy)

-Mr and Mrs Smith (action/interesting storyline)

-Knight and Day (action/comedy)

-Dark Knight (action)

-Indiana Jones (adventure/action)

-James Bond Casino Royale. (action/spy)

Today we were given our third filming task which had to involve a 180 degree rule, Action Match and a Shot/Reverse Shot. For this lesson we made a script and found what location we are going to use and what the clip is going to be about.
