Change in Genre
Over the past few weeks we have done research on the spoof film genre as we thought it would be a good type to do for our opening sequence. But when it came to planning we realised that although this is a popular genre and one of our favourite types of film it would be easier and overall alot better to stick to making a spy action film instead.

location pictures
This is one location that we found for our film. I took various pictures of the location and thought about where we could film each part of the opening scene. In the end we thought that this location was more suitable for a film with the genre of horror etc. Instead we found a location that fit more to the action and spy type.

When looking through my research i found that the majority of the results from my questionnaire helped a lot when it came to planning out my film. A lot of people think that a female main character or a female villain is a good idea as it goes against the stereotype and makes the film different from others of its genre.

Mimic opening sequence analysis
The beginning of the movie Mimic starts with a quite dramatic thudding sound which is effective by setting the serious mood. The first shot we are able to see is a high angle shot of a city. This shot is very effective as it helps inform the audience the setting and environment of the film. This shot then fades to black quickly; the thudding sound effect can be heard again. This type of edit is very effective as it makes the audience involved in the scene and feel like part of the film.
As the titles come up they are shown in a white font with a blurry effect. This gives an un-natural and strange feel which could represent the story line of the film. The images of the insects that can be seen behind the titles show the audience what could be involved in the film and make it seem quite super natural. The diegetic music is quite dramatic and adds to the serious feel of the film. The quick fading edit from each image to the other make the movie seem quite sinister and deadly, this helps build tension and keeps the audience interested.

Bourne Identity Analysis
The clip starts off showing the universal studios logo, showing that is the institution. Universal studios is a popular and successful institution which shows this film is going to be of high quality. Diagetic thunder can be heard at the start of the film. This sets the scene and makes it seems quite dangerous and dark. Suggesting that this is a serious action film. The non diagetic music also adds to the serious and quite dark tone of the film as it is slow and helps build tenstion, suggesting that some action is about to happen. This keeps the audience interested.

The majority of the beginning of this film is quite dark and gives a sad feel to the movie. This could reflect the mood of the characters in the situation they are in. for example Matt Damon is seen floating in the sea. The dangerous thunder and lightening could show the danger that his character is in. On most the the shots where the character Jason Bourne is visable he is shown in a dark light. This could represent the fact that at this point in the film his identity isnt known and he is quite a mysterious character.
We can see that in the opening of the film Jason Bourne is an American man where as the other characters on the boat where he was rescused. This shows that he is somewhere he does not belong and maybe helps represent the fact that he is seen as an outsider. When we see Jason Bourne fighting for the first time in the film the sound effects are added to magnify the punches and hits. This is effective for the action element of this film.
When i was watching the opening sequences of the action spy and action spoof films that i had to analyse i realised that on the majority of films the titles sequences don't start to show into around 10 minutes into the film. I think that for my film i will try to compress my opening sequence a bit so the titles and institution identity etc can be seen without the clip lasted over 5 minutes.
